In my last post I demonstrated how to configure a basic multicast setup on HPN core L3 switches. In this post I am going to expand this a little further and talk about interoperability with Cisco.
In the case of a network infrastructure migration away from a Cisco network to a HP network you may run into a configuration called auto-rp. First let me say this; one vendor is not better than the other and they both have their key features in my personal opinion, but that is beyond the scope of this post. Back to the topic at hand and that is interoperability between Cisco and HP and multicast functionality configured in sparse mode.
